I'm not dead!
Moving is almost complete, I'm about done. It's really put a damper on modeling lately, but I'll be back at it soon.
This will be my new work area. It's a closet that was made into a work desk, which actually gives me more room now. It has some natural light coming in which is always nice, and having a window up helps with airbrushing and stuff. I have room for painted stuff on the shelves above it and luckily a hobby closet nearby to store bits and sprues. I used to have a small TV on my desk for watching movies on while I worked, may try to see if it'll work here. If not, the main TV is close at least.
In other news, HOLY MOLY I MUST HAVE THIS!

30k!
No, I'm not gonna make my wallet cry and go all 30k on y'all. 30k views! Thanks for checking out the blog and rest assured, there will be more good stuff coming soon.
I will probably have a lot more free time coming up to get some of these armies finished. A separation will do that to you I guess. Sucks, but models make for a good distraction when times are hard at least.
Gonna keep on going like the Emperor does!

Grey Knight Dread
This guy will probably go in the For Sale heap. I guess the long range firepower might be viable still, but it's a shame the ol' Psycannon Dread went bye bye. I like the idea of a Drop Pod Venerable Dreadnought so much better nowadays anyway.
It was fun making the guns for him at least! He could still be used as a counts as Autocannon Dread.

Grey Knight Librarian
Nothing too sexy here tonight, just an old GK Librarian I pulled out as I was assembling what models I had to use for my Imperial force I'm starting to work on. I used to love those GK plastics, so well done! I may have a few as Allies if the rules look good; heard the Librarians got cheap. Anyone that can put a kibosh on psychers these days is damn good if you ask me.
I think the Empire bitz always worked well with the Knights. The arm with the Force sword is from the og GK termie set. The casting hand was from a Space Marine rocket sprue.
This guy's gonna need a new city base...

Whirlwind
I realized I had enough parts to make a Whirlwind this evening, and pieced one together pretty quickly. I love these little things! It's not the toughest, but it can hide and still shoot a respectable pie plate to take out light / medium infantry pretty reliably. Thank you Barrage. Since my usual meta is Tau, anything I can give good cover to and that will break up castling Fire Warriors is good!
Not too much converting here, other than the scrolls, book, and purity seals. I'll probably use this as my test model when I use my airbrush again and start painting the army. Since it should be a fairly low model count, I'm looking forward to it.

Space Marine Tactical Squad
So my future Imperial Fist army may be gaining momentum. It went from a few ideas in my head to an actual squad in a couple of days! I had a chance to sit down with the Marine codex this week and absolutely loved it. I think this army is totally made to do well in 7th Edition. It tops everyone as far as versatility goes.
The only chapter I could ever do would be the Fists. I love the fluff, their Primarch, the color scheme, everything. This would be the first good guy Marine army I've ever done in the eighteen years I've been playing this game (other than that time with Grey Knights...)
I picked up a Tac Squad earlier this week and used the last day of my vaca to put them together. My idea for this army is a veteran force of hardcore city fighters. Since your typical Marine mini is a tad boring, I decided to pay more attention to their bases. I'm using plasticard to replicate steel flooring (which I need to clean up the edges of) and plan on using pieces of rubble and destroyed walls freely as well. I also want to make them look like they've been in constant war for a while; pieces of their armor are blasted and in desperate need or repair.
Stay tuned, more yellow is on the way!

Painboy
Painboyz are very popular right now. Feel No Pain added to already tough units like Mega Nobz or Bikerz can make for some really tough troops.
I made this one from a Nob body, an Ogre cleaver, and I think the drill comes from something on the Stompa kit. The face mask and apron will be painted white and smeared with a lot of gore!

Waaagh! the hell??
A brutal game vs. Tau yesterday. Just absolutely mauled by shooting. Some thoughts.
1. Mega Armored Nobz are pretty awesome.
2. Lucky Stikk is worth its weight in teef.
3. Tau shooting can be absolutely ridiculous.
4. Fourth game in a row that my Lootas let me down.
5. I think the Gorkanaut may be pure garbage.

Tankbustas
I made a few more of these Tankbustas the other day so I could load up a Trukk with some and go tear-assing towards enemy armor next game. I didn't use them really well last time, having them on foot vs. Tau really doesn't work well. I'm always gonna have them in a vehicle from now on. I did have a chance to get the few remaining ones into combat with a Riptide, but I had cheaped out and didn't add any Tankhammers. I forgot about their tankbusta bombs too. Siiiigh.
Next up is to clean these up a little and build a propa Nob for the unit.

Mega Armored Nobz re-visited
Ever work on something and really dig it and then a few days later you look at it again and it just doesn't do it for you anymore? Yea, happens to me all the time. It hit me like a charge from Ghazgkull with that last batch of Mega Armored Nobz. The different size heads and some of the arms just wasn't doing it for me, so...back to the drawing board.
The different sized heads were driving me nuts, so I went searching on the Kromlech site for some ideas. They make some of the best second market Ork bitz out there, and it wasn't long before I found what I needed. A couple of packets later and I was back in business.
The Clanking Destroyer Heads and Mechanical Arms work great on these older Mega Armored models. The heads look like something out of that Robots animated film, which is cute and all, even if these guys are made to cut things to bloody shreds!
The unit in it's full glory!

I switched out the head and arms of the Big Mek. The claw is from pieces of the Ironclad Dreadnought and the drill from Kromlech. I think he looks much more "tech" now.
A pair of killsaws for this Nob.
The Kromlech bitz work in scale pretty dang good with these. I think they're a fun balance between cartoon and Ork brutality and efficiency!
Ready for the Battlewagon!

Mega Armored Orks
Took out my old metal MANZ tonight and did some work on them. I'll keep these as the new ones are juuuuuust a bit pricey IMO. Yea right, I say that, then I'll see them firsthand and jump at buying a couple of boxes. I do dig their slightly bigger size now....
Usually I do not dig older metal models of any kind, but these you can do a little converting to and they should paint up well being mostly all armor.
First up is a Big Mek conversion with a Kustom Force Field. This was made from the new Morkanaut kit, of which I need to get off my ass and build!
Nob with Kustom boss pole. Only the best for the boyz!
A lot of the arm bitz are from Kromlech. They're da bomb.

I had this old grotzooka thingy I bought online for some Killer Kans a while back. It actually fits pretty well on these.

Ork Warbuggies
Warbuggies have gotten much better in the new codex! I love that they outflank now; this will help get at rear armor easier. Having five twin linked rokkit shots coming your way will definitely turn the heads of many an unsuspecting tank commander. And you can't beat the cost! Afterwards they'll either get shot to hell, directing fire away from the Boyz, or possibly ignored somewhat, so they can start racing around doing what Orks so best...unleashing carnage.
I built these buggies a while back and was kinda turned off on them as they'd just get shot to ribbons so early. They did have some good luck against some Nid Warriors and Ogryns, popping them with that S8 rokkit. I have to build two more now that they are more viable. I'll also have to convert the big shoota one as well. The trukk and battlewagon kits are seriously fun to play with!
