Happy Halloween!

Halloween, or Hallowe'en (/ˌhæləˈwiːn, -oʊˈiːn, ˌhɑːl-/; a contraction of "All Hallows' Evening"), also known as Allhalloween, All Hallows' Eve, or All Saints' Eve, is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day.

Also, boobs.

Plaguebearer progress

It was time to stop buildin', and start paintin', so I grabbed all my Plaguebeaers that had previously been built for my Fantasy army, and got to work over a rainy weekend.

These guys are really easy to paint up, and a lot of fun too; especially once you get into painting the rotten parts like the sores and guts. GW washes really go a long way here.

I added the usual gloss varnish to the sticky parts and will probably add a few more layers once they're dry. The weapons were just some Typhus Corrosion followed by a drybrush of orange to make them look rusted up.

The older metal models will be used as Plagueridden, Icon, or Instrument bearers. Still have some details to paint up on them and to finish the bases, but almost done!

Chaos Cultists Part II

Made the second unit of Nurgle Cultists. More of the same really, but had to really scrounge deep into the bitz to get them made. You might even see some Catachan legs in there!

 'Snack for later...."

I also made some stubber guns for them out of some Cadian and terrain bitz. These guys look like they are using captured Imperial weaponry, and have re-calibured them to shoot what they have, including Bleeder or Expander rounds. Nasty!

Beasts of Nurgle

Nothing too exciting today, just re-based and did a few adjustments to some counts as Beasts of Nurgle.

I don't know how well they'll do on the tabletop, but they look good! Forgeworld just continues to pump out amazing stuff.

Champion of Nurgle

After seeing the great work Adam Wier did on his Death Guard Terminator conversion over at Between the Bolter and Me, I was inspired to work on a Nurgle Champion from the Glottkin kit I still had leftover on the sprue. I figured he'd make a good base for a massive Nurgle dude.

The body translates to 40k fairly well, at least for a follower of Nurgle. The head is from the Chaos Warshrine kit, axe from the Maggoth Lord, and power fist from...I have no idea anymore.

This guy is either pointing up toward something he wants dead, or belting out a song of Nurgly praise, much like Dynamo from Running Man.

Also got some more Nurgling bases done!

Chaos Cultists

Been looking at these FW bitz forever in my box and finally decided to build me some Cultists. Most lists use these guys instead of regular Marines, and I can see why. Cheap, effective objective sitters that help save you points for the heavy hitters in your list. I do like my Plague Marines too, as they are resilient, but 2-3 units of Cultists don't break the bank like the big boys do.

They were made with a mixture of FW, Cadian, Catachan, and ghoul blitz. I used a secondary company for some added pouches and packs too. I like my Cultists loaded up with junk!I shortened their lasguns and hope that makes them look less Imperial once I paint them up.

So long square bases

Yea, gonna go all Shane and say enough. It's time to move on, at least for now, from Fantasy / AOS. I think the main thing for me is that if I wanted to play a skirmish style game, I'd play 40k. Fantasy was always about big, ranked up units for me, and I believe a little of the magic from that is lost with the way it's played now. My game group hasn't played Fantasy in years either, which makes the decision easier too. Not saying in the future I won't give it a try (although the whole rules base seems very odd), but for now I'll concentrate on finishing up my Nurgle and Khorne forces for 40k.

So first off its scrap the square and switch to the round. I'm lucky that my Nurgle Daemon stuff can be played in both systems in case I do want to give AOS a go one day.

I based about 30 Plaguebeaers on round bases today and now how a suitable force of them should I have to summon a bunch. I already had about 20 with Heralds from before so I'm good in the PB department.

I also played around with some Nurgling bases, which were a lot of fun!
