Nurgle Sorcerer
Work continues on the Great Unclean One (and it's a haul!) but in the meantime, I popped this little guy off the sprue and threw together a quick Nurgle Sorcerer last night.
I always liked that Chaos Knight head; reminds me of something right out of Heavy Metal.
Still have to smooth out some of the Green Stuff, but a pretty easy conversion!

Building a better Great Unclean One
I did it. I couldn't hold out any longer. I decided not to wait for a new GUO model and will convert up one for use in both Fantasy and 40k!
The current little GUO is a wee guy now, what with the release of the new Bloodthirster kit. That boy is huuuuge! There is only one kit out there now that encompasses the size and girth of a Greater Daemon of Nurgle, and that is the Glottkin.
I just happened to get one in the mail the other day, so it's time to assemble! It's a really nice kit, not too complicated to put together at all. It will have some nice leftover bitz to use as well, especially the two Chaos Sorcerer riders.
So my idea for the Daemon is to use the main body of course, with a litle bit of manipulation of the head. I love the detail of the face, but I need to make him more "mine" and will be adding a single eye and horn. I think this will make him a little more Unclean. That face though, so cute only a Nurgling could love it.
I have a few more pieces to go on the torso, and then it's onto the arms and head. One thing I do not want to do with this guy is to just cut the back parts off and use him as a GUO. I plan on changing him up, mostly through the head and arms. I like the arms that come with him, but I'm thinking of making him holding a weapon, like maybe a big Nurgly looking axe or something. The "maw" arm will not be used, much as I like the nasty thing. Tonight I will scour my bitz for something that will fit the scale of the model. If not, I'll do some searching on Ebay or something.
On a couple of side notes, this dude took a tumble off my work area, and I had to reassemble him. I love this model!
I also got my work area finished up with some artwork hung. Mainly some D&D prints and some old art I did back in the day of...D&D stuff. Add in some Star Wars and I have immersed myself in nerdom.

Don't hate him cause he's beautiful!
So far I have assembled the legs and lower torso. Talk about cankles!

Can't go wrong with Holloway, Dee, and Roslof!

Nurgly Wurlgy
I'm not dead! I feel happy!
So, I have been looking at the new Khorne Daemonkin stuff, and I really like what I see. GW rewarding the faithful with a mono-god codex for Chaos is uber-cool. I'm a fluff purist at heart, so I have always loved pure Khorne or Nurgle forces in the past. With the last two Chaos codexes, you sorta had to play some mixed stuff to stay competitive though. I didn't feel too bad about combining Nurgle and Slaanesh (the pink and stink list) or Nurgle and Khorne (pus and....ahh fuck, nothing rhymes). I can't wait to see a Nurgle Daemonkin book, and I think that's the one I'd like to build going forward.
Well, having said that, I need something to distract me from all this Khorny goodness, at least for now. I'm getting back into the swing of things, have my work area all done up, and will be setting up a gaming table soon out above the barn (I live on a horse farm now). It's time to jump back on the horse! (see what I did there?). A good warm up for painting would be my Fantasy Nurgle Daemon army.
I've had most of it built for a while now and absolutely love the models. They are pretty easy to paint up too. Only thing I'd love to build for it would be a proper Great Unclean One and maybe a Daemon Prince or two. With all the awesome Nurgle stuff released for End Times recently, there's definitely some good models to make some conversions out of.
Sign of a good Warhammer unit...easy to rank up!
Fantasy is about to make a comeback and I'm excited to see what direction it goes. And you know what? If it sucks, I'll have a fully painted army to move and that'll be that. I recently sold off my Orks and Ogres, so I have no qualms about scaling back my armies as I go forward. Don't get me started on the Skitarri, I love almost all the models coming out for them. Be disciplined, Brandon...stay on target...
Sorry Skeletor, you're just gonna have to wait!

Adeptus Mechanicus
I keep hearing rumor of Adeptus Mechanicus coming down the pipe, either more from Forgeworld (which are gorgeous btw) or as a new army from from GW. Either way, it'd be great to see. Once I read Mechanicum by Graham McNeill I was instantly fascinated by this whole new world in the 40k universe. There's a good amount of bitz out there to convert up some Enginseers, Skitarii, and Servitors; the sky is the limit! I guess we'll see.
I pulled this old Defiler out of mothballs when I was assembling stuff to sell, and wondered if I could switch it over to a Mechanicus theme instead of Chaos. I can't really use it now as Defilers got a lot bigger. I built this before they had a proper model.
I hope they improve Defilers somehow. Soulgrinders are so much better!
In other news, very excited to hear about Khorne model updates incoming. New Berserkers and Juggernaut riders?? Yes please. This brings me to my feelings on the current releases of Necrons and Harlequins we have to suffer through before they are released...

Alive.....it's alive...
...IT'S ALIVE!!!!
Ok, so after a protracted absence, I am back! I have been getting my place in order, buying furniture, settling in...all that stuff. One thing I needed to do was to consolidate some space and move out some of my extra armies. I'm selling off my Ogres and Orks.
Going forward, I'm sticking with Chaos Marines and Daemons. These have always been my favorite forces for 40k, I think they offer some of the best conversion opportunities, and I enjoy painting them more than anything else. I know they have new codexes or supplements incoming this year, and with that, more models too (which is always my driving force in this hobby), so the decision was easy. Much as I love my greenskins, it's just too daunting to go horde army right now. I already have most of a Fantasy Daemon army now, and we don't play that as much anymore, so the Ogres gotta march too.
So both those armies are up for sale. Know anyone interested, send em' my way! If they mention the Garage I'll hook them up for a special discount too.
Roughly, this is what's up for grabs. Pics of a lot of this are located in this blog.

I also may have some Marine stuff for sale soon too. We'll see if it's worth hanging on to. Hope all is well with you fellas (and gals) out there. Some hobby updates soon! I hear a new Bloodthirster is incoming, so that means the other Greater Daemons should drop this year as well. Also hear rumor of plastic Death Guard. Oh man, could be a good summer!
In other news, vintage Star Wars figures keep showing up to my door as of late. It's so weird...

An update from moveland
I'm not dead!
Moving is almost complete, I'm about done. It's really put a damper on modeling lately, but I'll be back at it soon.
This will be my new work area. It's a closet that was made into a work desk, which actually gives me more room now. It has some natural light coming in which is always nice, and having a window up helps with airbrushing and stuff. I have room for painted stuff on the shelves above it and luckily a hobby closet nearby to store bits and sprues. I used to have a small TV on my desk for watching movies on while I worked, may try to see if it'll work here. If not, the main TV is close at least.
In other news, HOLY MOLY I MUST HAVE THIS!
