Chaos Knight plans

The Imperial Knights Renegade box showed up on my doorstep the other day, and it made me all...

Super excited about converting both a Nurgle one for myself, and a Khornate version for my girl. I'm already brainstorming about how to do both. I'll raid the Lord of Skulls kit for the Khorny one. That should be fairly easy; between the big f'ing axe and the head piece, it'll be a good start.

The Nurgle one will probably entail a wild mix of kits. From just browsing through my bitz, I can see adding Maulerfiend, Soul Grinder, Defiler, Glottkin, and various spikes, skulls, bodies, banners, and horns on her. My dremel is drooling at the chance to get a hold of that plastic.

Kinda digging this head for it too.

Then there's the load out on them. Of course, make the Khorne one a h2h monster with a reaper chainsword and thunderstrike gauntlet. Not much in the way of shooting, but that's for pussies anyway, right? Nurgle one I'd love to make a gun platform out of; the thought of two rapid fire battle cannons blasting away is just sick. Expensive, but sick.

Khorne Daemon Prince 2.0

Getting a lot done! I've primed my girl's first Daemon Prince I built from the old Bloodthirster model and a few more buildings as well. I was assembling a sale pile, and had this old metal DP in there, but thought I'd show it to her to see if she wanted it as a second Prince for her army. She loved it, so, I had to Khorne it up for her. Not much really, just did a weapon swap with the big axe and then added the vulture perched on him (she loves some birds).

I may add some chain or barbed wire to his wrist to cover up the sawing I had to do to get the axe angle right. Makes you appreciate converting with plastic!

Also swapped the head out on this Berserker Champion model; looks more Khorny now.

Inventory Day!

I'm feeling under the weather, so I should totally not rest and pull out all my models to take stock of what I have, what I need to build and paint, and what I need to sell. Riiiiight.

No idea where the energy is coming from, but I'm staying busy today.

2. Wait for new Death Guard Marines to be released so it actually has some in the army.

3. Build some Plague Drones (still on sprues).

4. Try to convert some Plague Zombies for it again. Not happy with the last ones I tried.

5. PLAY!

Now onto the Khorne stuff for my girl. She's so ready to start!

I also have some more terrain to build, including that destroyed Rhino piece I got in a trade a while back. I actually got a couple of buildings primed the other day between all the f'ing rain we've gotten lately. Will be painting some of those to get back into the saddle and back at finishing these projects. Still eyeing a potential Mechanicus force too, waiting on the codex to drop. 

Now to put the sale stuff together...and maybe a little Hellbrute project from some bits I found. 

Daemon Prince of Khorne WIP

My girl had a rough night at work last night....so.....I built her a Khornate Daemon Prince to lift her spirits. It's the little things like berserk, daemonic entities from the Warp that count. Somebody's gotta lead her army until we get some Thirsters' for her!

I had this guy in my storage for the longest time. I felt he needed help, as the old model just didn't have the "ooomf" he once had. Now that the new Bloodthirster has been released, his size works great for a Daemon Prince. I added on a little bling to him to spruce him up and switched out his weapons for two Axes of Khorne. Over the top, yes...but isn't that the Blood God's way?

My work here is done.

Khorne Champion

Khorne has gifted this fellow with bestial legs to allow him to get in combat quicker, and thus spill blood faster for him. It won't be his last mutation, as his mind turns into a jellied mess of firing synapses, eventually telling him one thing, and one thing only.

Kill...kill....kill...KILL.

More Beserkers

Almost finished a second squad of Berserkers today, just gotta base em' and do some touch ups. Loving the Blood for the Blood God technical paint, really fun to use!

And that makes 100 posts as well! 

Aspiring Champion of Khorne WIP

A quick little kit bash today, as I try to break up the monotony of painting a bunch of Berserkers. Gor legs, Berserker torso, OOP Juggernaut rider plasma arm, WHFB Chaos Champ head and Chaos Possessed backpack and power fist. He was fun to assemble! Still need to stick a hollowed out barrel on the plasma gun and fix up his loin cloth though.

I also finally have a new banner. WOOT. 

Cheapskate Hounds

Here's some cheap Flesh Hounds I did tonight using ordinary Chaos Hounds. I would have loved to use some Forgeworld  Hounds of Xaphan, but they are a little too much for my wallet, especially since you need so many of them to weather the storm of shells coming their way each game. I just ordered a bunch more biker bases and will be putting together a squad or two of them soon. Really easy to paint, just some red, wash, highlight, blood...done.

WIP Blood Throne of Khorne

I don't know when I'll field her, but I really wanted to build one of these. Rules wise it's ok, nothing real special, but it does make for a fun conversion piece.

Had to go with some Juggernaut steeds...this blog is named from them after all. The chariot body is from the old metal Chaos Warrior chariot (screw you Finecast!). I added a few skulls here and there and will no doubt put a few more up; those and chains are a great way to hide gaps in the model. I added a banner to the front of the chariot to count as the Totem that let's you pass on the Herald's Locus to others nearby.

If you play Khorne you gotta play the target saturation game, and this beauty will need to be taken care of stat by your opponent cause it hits pretty hard. A Herald will wreck some stuff if you let him get into h2h.

Chaos Land Raider 2

About finished with my second Khornate Land Raider. More of the same on this one with the weathering powders, chipping, etc. This one does have some left over salt on the hull from my failed attempt to weather it that way, although it kinda gives it a gnarled look in places so I don't mind it too much. This one has a weapon switch from the lascannons to some autocannons off the Defiler kit.

I worked to improve the small writing on the sides of this one, using both white and black pens to cut down the size; on my other Raider the writing was way off scale. I also tried free handing some symbols here and there as well.

I mixed some white glue with the Secret Weapon powders and it made easy nice mud effects, added some to the tracks to give the weathering some depth.

Not sure what's next, possibly gonna start on my Nurgle Grinders and maybe build some more Slaanesh stuff.

Khornate Land Raider...getting there

WIP of one of my Khorny Land Raiders. These things are actually very fun to paint! With the large areas you can really go to town with weathering, stencils, etc.

This is the first vehicle I used an airbrush on. The clean and even coat for the base color is achieved very easily, and quickly too. It made that part of the job much more fun, which in turn, made me want to finish the piece.

The muddy effect is from Secret Weapon Miniatures weather powders. I can't say enough good things about that stuff; it's great!

Still got a few things to do to her, although at some point I will have to put down the LR, and back away...

Props to Mordian 7th for pics of his latest Land Raider...it definitely gave me inspiration to get working on mine!

Chaos Lord on Jugger

I love the fluff behind juggernauts. As you can tell, I took the name of this blog (plus most of my internets handles) from the name given to them back in older editions of the game. The thought of a cross between a pitbull, great white, and a daemonic engine is just too cool. I usually try to have some of these in all my Chaos armies, be they Fantasy or 40k. Khorne FTW!

I built this guy for one of my older World Eaters armies, but he's been on the shelf for a while (HATE the current codex). With rumors that they'll be making a comeback with the new Chaos codex being possibly released this year, and as whole units possibly, I just had to dust him off to prepare for glory!
